Chemistry & Biochemistry MS Statement of Purpose Instructions

The Masters of Science in Chemistry coursework program does not include research and does not lead to a PhD. It is a terminal degree designed to provide up-to-date general expertise in chemistry for teachers, technicians from industry, and business.

 

With this in mind, please describe your plans for graduate study and for your future occupation or profession. The selection committee is particularly interested in learning about your past laboratory research experience and future research interests.

 

Emphasize how the Chemistry Graduate Program at UC Santa Cruz specifically fits these research interests and future goals.

 

At the end of your Statement, list three to five Chemistry faculty with whom you would like to interview.

 

Recommended length is a concise 1-2 pages.
